We had an amazing experience at the Doxa Deo School recently when they hosted a fashion show with a difference, where all outfits were made of recyclable material!
The children participating in the fashion show had to design fashionable clothes and accessories all made from recyclable material. The cherry on the top was having them wear their creations on the evening!
The participants each had to compile a portfolio explaining their creations, the inspirations behind the creations, the materials they used and why these materials are seen as recyclable. The purpose of this unique project is to create first-hand awareness of the fragile state of our environment and the importance, usefulness and great need to recycle. The project gave everyone the opportunity to be creative and use waste materials, which no one would ordinarily use, to create something extraordinary.
What a novel way to teach children and adults alike that there is a great need to recycle and that we have to care for the earth.
It was an awesome experience!
